Pickleball Courts of the Capital Region / Paddle Recommendations

One of the first two questions we usually encounter after working with Beginners is, "Where can I find courts to play on?" and "Do you have any paddle recommendations?"

We are relying on our friends over at Pickleball518.com to help out with this one. Check out the following link for tons of info on courts in the area, both indoor and outdoor.

In regards to paddles, it's not as straight forward, finding the right paddle is a personal choice and sometimes you can go through a few before you really find the one that calls to you. One piece of advice i would give is do not skimp on your paddle and start out with a wooden one or a budget set off Amazon, these paddles are usually of very low quality and make the game harder to pick up. If your serious about getting a decent paddle and don't want to spend a lot , go to Pickleballgalaxy in Malta and see Tony (Tell him Sean and Jen sent you !), Tony has the largest selection of paddles in the area, not only that, but he has discount bins of paddles that have been used or opened and returned for about 50 % off or more, this should allow you to grab a solid beginner paddle for around the $50-$80 mark, if going brand new, expect to spend close to $100.
